Gogglebox’s families were less than impressed with Boris Johnson’s apology after being fined for his involvement in ‘Partygate’.
The Prime Minister apologised after being found to have broken the law during the Covid-19 lockdown after attending a gathering on his birthday.
He and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak were each fined £50 for breaking the law, and Mr Johnson apologised for the oversight, claiming the incident was less than 10 minutes long.
The stars of Gogglebox did not hold back in slamming his apology, with Mica saying: ‘They should resign,’ as Marcus concurred: ‘You can’t be the Prime Minister, who is writing the law, and you break the law.’
When Mr Johnson admitted his behaviour ‘fell short’ of what was expected of him, Sophie Sandiford adding: ‘Falling short is forgetting to put your clothes in the dryer when you’ve been asked,’ as Pete continued: ‘Or turning up to work 10 minutes late, not breaking the law.’
South London resident Annie told her husband: ‘I’m really upset Ronnie, I was a Boris fan. But gradually he’s gone down and down and down. I think he’s got to go, he’s got to go.’

While most of the families were in agreement that Mr Johnson should resign after being the first Prime Minister in office to have been found to have broken the law, Marcus did not hold out much hope that he would give up the post.
He commented: ‘He isn’t going to resign babes, he’s not resigning,’ as Mica agreed, adding: ‘Of course he isn’t.’
Pete Sandiford added: ‘He’s been living on borrowed time for a long time, Boris, and I think now the chickens are coming home to roost. Same for Señor Sunak as well.’
Gogglebox airs Fridays from 9pm on Channel 4.
