Microblading is a form of a cosmetic semi-permanent makeup performed using a handheld tool, composed with very fine needles resembling the shape of a blade.
The blade is used to hand draw each individual hair and simultaneously implant the pigment into the skin.
Microblading gives well-defined, natural looking eyebrows and generally, results can last from 18 to 30 months depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how often you get touch-ups.
But one woman has taken to TikTok to warn people about the lasting effects of microblading.
The woman who posts under the username ‘kayysapp’ revealed that she had microblading done to her eyebrows almost four years ago, but it still won’t fade in certain areas.
She wants to warn people of the importance of researching a practitioner before getting the procedure done.
She said: “Beware of the lasting effects of microblading…
“I had my procedure 3.5 years ago and it still won’t fade in certain areas.
“Be sure to do your research so you don’t end up with the same issue.
“I just wanted an arch in my eyebrow but yikes.
“Honestly wish I never got it.”
In the video, the woman shows off her eyebrows and you can see that an area of the microblading hasn’t faded in one area, leaving her with a random patch on her face, slightly above the rest of her eyebrow.
The video has clearly shocked many, as it has racked up a whopping 1.7million views
It has 4,466 likes, 650 comments and 337 shares.
Many TikTokers were shocked at the woman’s eyebrows, with some saying that they too had had this happen to them.
One person said: “It all ends up like this unfortunately. I went to one of the top artists in the US and I’m 3 years out and it looks exactly like this.”
Another added: “I have some of mine from 8 years ago ! They look blue now.”
A third commented: “Me too, mine is red”
One person asked: “Ever get a touch up?” to which the woman confirmed “I did and it went right back to how it is now. I feel like my skin rejected the ink in certain places because it’s been like this for years.”
However, not all TikTokers were put off microblading but the woman’s story, with many praising the technique.
One user commented: “Had mine for 7 years with only one touch up during that time and they’re amazing! Everyone’s skin is just different so it can go either way.”
Another added: “Best money I ever spent.”
The woman later confirmed that she is going to have a saline removal treatment to try to get rid of the microblading.
