FORMER Newcastle United Women’s goalkeeper Dominyka Podziute has sadly passed away.
Tributes have poured in on social media for the “much-loved” keeper, who is believed to have passed away aged just 21-years-old.

Newcastle Women’s Twitter account wrote a touching message, saying: “We are devastated to hear of the passing of our former player Dominyka Podziute.
“Dom was a much loved member of the squad during her time at the club, and will be sorely missed across North East football.
“Our thoughts are with Dom’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
Newcastle Men’s team also paid their respects on social media, writing: “Extremely sad news. Rest in peace, Dom.”
Podziute first joined Newcastle Women in 2018, and spent three years with the club before moving on to Hartlepool United Women.
She made a number of first team appearances in the 2019/20 season before the season was cut short due to Covid-19.
Podziute had recently signed for Northern League Division 2 side Chester le Street Town from Hartlepool.
And Chester le Street Town said in a statement: “It is with deep sadness that we have today learned that Dominyka Podziute who recently signed for our Ladies section @CLSTladies1 from Hartlepool United Women @Official_HUWFC has sadly passed away,
“Thoughts and condolences are with her family and playing colleagues at this time.”
Further tributes were paid to Podziute by those that knew her, with one describing the goalkeeper as “One of the safest pairs of hands in the North East”.
It said: “Rest in Peace Dominyka Podziute. One of the safest pairs of hands in the North East.
“Thoughts go out to your family & loved ones.”
