Stats prove Haaland and Son are deadliest strikers in Europe this season

ERLING HAALAND and Son Heung-min have been the sharpest shooters in Europe this season.

They are the only two players in Europe’s top five leagues to achieve a goal conversion rate of 25 per cent and above of the non-penalty shots they have taken this year, according to Squawka.

Haaland, who is wanted by Manchester City and Real Madrid this summer, has scored 41 non-penalty goals from 159 non-penalty shots.

Only two of the Norwegian’s goals have come from outside the box with Son managing triple that amount.

The South Korean scored a brilliant long-range curler against Leicester on Sunday with his weaker foot – making him the Premier League’s second-highest goalscorer this season.

The Spurs star has three goals less than Mo Salah this season with the Egyptian sitting on 22 – five of which have been penalties.

Salah has been in fine form for quadruple chasers Liverpool this season but still only managed a conversion rate of 13.7 per cent from 241 non-penalty shots.

Reds team-mate Sadio Mane has 13.6 per cent from 184 non-penalty shots – a little less than Cristiano Ronaldo, has achieved with 14.5 per cent from 262 non-penalty shots.

Arsenal target Robert Lewandowski has been the third most accurate striker this season.

He has scored 40 non-penalty goals for Bayern Munich this season and recorded a conversion rate of 22.8 per cent from an astonishing 272 shots.

Harry Kane has also been outperformed by Haaland with the England captain managing a 12.4 per cent conversion rate – which is perhaps why City have turned their attention to Haaland.

But the Spurs star could still help Antonio Conte’s side finish in the top four this season – though they may have to beat rivals Arsenal in a few days to do so.

There has been little to separate the two north London clubs this season with just two points between them currently.
